Darren joined Alder Renewables in May 2022 and is the Chief Commercial Officer, where he oversees the company’s commercialization strategy, financial and customer operations, and pilot plant development. A commercial leader in aviation for nearly two decades, Darren has spent his career at the apex of business development, aviation, and sustainability.
Darren joined World Fuel Services (WFS) as VP, Business Development when they acquired privately held Ascent Aviation group in 2011 as the largest distributor of Phillips 66 branded aviation fuels and exclusive distributor of Dow Chemical’s aircraft deicing fluids. His role at WFS consistently expanded while growing to support nearly 25% of the North American aircraft deicing fluid business. In 2018, Darren assumed oversight of the WFS Equipment Group which manages procurement, logistics and maintenance of a portfolio of fixed assets including refueling trucks, tanks and other equipment valued at nearly $250 million.
Also in 2018, Darren began managing branded dealer and airport relationships for WFS FBO network at 34 strategic airports across Canada. In 2020, Darren voiced his passion for the growing market for renewable fuels and was further tapped to lead efforts introducing carbon reduction and accounting products to business and commercial aviation customers. These offerings included sustainable aviation fuel, carbon offsets, REC’s, and other targeted tools designed to elevate sustainability strategies for the WFS global FBO and business aviation portfolio.
He is a past member of the Environmental Committee at the National Air Transportation Association and the SAF Coalition, the goals of which are to advance sustainability initiatives across the aviation sector in the United States. Darren holds a B.A. in Economics and French from Hamilton College. He resides in Syracuse, New York with his wife and two children. He is an avid golfer and a private pilot, clocking over 3,500 hours in single and multi-engine aircraft.
