Analytical Chemist

Alder Renewables is on a mission to replace fossil-based products and help rebalance our relationship with the planet. We are seeking a full-time Analytical Chemist to support our research team. The candidate will operate and maintain our lab analytical equipment, collect and analyze data, and manage lab safety. This role is ideal for an early to mid-career analytical chemist looking to advance their career in the renewable energy sector.

Operate and Maintain Analytical Instruments

• Operate and maintain analytical equipment, including GC-FID, GC-MS, HPLC, and physicochemical analyses.
• Lead analytical method development, validation, and optimization.

Data Collection and Management

• Assist in data collection through lab experiments and chemical analyses.
• Manage and maintain instrument databases and records.
• Support the interpretation of data and identification of trends.
• Help draft research reports, summaries, and briefs.

Manage Lab Safety

• Manage lab safety documentation, protocols, and inspections.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in analytical chemistry.
• In-depth knowledge of analytical instrumentation operation and maintenance, specifically GC and HPLC.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Lab safety management or equivalent leadership experience.
• Experience with standardized techniques (i.e., ASTM) for fuel quality analysis.
